WALTHAM, Mass.— Aug. 7, 2012 — Red Bend Software, the market leader in Mobile Software Management (MSM) with more than 1.5 billion Red Bend-Enabled™ devices, today announced the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has granted the company patent number 8,201,170. The patented technology, which is used in Red Bend’s vLogix Mobile™ for Mobile Virtualization, enables multiple operating systems with different priority levels to run concurrently on a single device.

This fifth granted patent joins Red Bend’s virtualization patent portfolio that covers many aspects of Mobile Virtualization. Mobile phone and connected device manufacturers are increasingly adopting Mobile Virtualization in order to speed time to market, reduce costs and increase security. With Red Bend’s vLogix Mobile, mobile device manufacturers can securely and efficiently create and separate a personal domain and a work domain on an employee’s smartphone or tablet. In addition, automotive system manufacturers can isolate critical safety systems from the in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) system when using a single hardware platform.

“Being granted this new patent demonstrates Red Bend’s continued innovation in Mobile Virtualization, and further extends our intellectual property for managing any type of software on any type of mobile device – from smartphones to automobiles,” said Sharon Peleg, CTO of Red Bend Software. “Virtualization technology is a game-changer for device manufacturers that want to combine flexibility and security. Red Bend is committed to working with our customers and partners to architect and build the next-generation of virtualized, Enterprise-Ready mobile devices, advancing the new paradigm shift of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD).”
